Instead of observing events and then reporting like a typical journalists, Hunter S. Thompson immersed himself in events and many times became a participant. This would give him a point of view that was vastly different from what other journalists experienced. The first major work from this method was the book, Hells Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.
One of Thompson's most pivotal works was the book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas which was later made into a movie starring Johnny Depp. Sputnik, Viktor, and Tor cover the story in detail including the part of Oscar Zeta Acosta, and the famous wave speech.
Other works of Hunter S. Thompson include The Rum Diary, Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail '72, The Curse of Lono, Mistah Leary - He Dead, Kingdom of Fear: Loathsome Secrets of a Star-Crossed Child in the Final Days of the American Century, The Gonzo Papers, The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved, Strange Rumblings in Aztlan, and there are many more. Listen to the show. The Tank Team covers it all, except for the stuff they forgot to mention.
